Rear Window
Oliver Sears Gallery delighted to participate in a new project which opened at 4 Mason's Yard, St James, London SW1Y 6BU on the 30th October 2019.
Under the title REAR WINDOW, curator Brian Kennedy presents four separate, but thematically connected shows that address concerns within contemporary art, craft and design. These will run over eight weeks until 20th December 2019.
At a time when international art fairs, biennales and exhibitions continue to grow in scale, it seems timely to re-ignite our desire to connect with art in a more intimate way, to view work in a space that relates to our domestic environment, to prompt starting points for collections.
REAR WINDOW is presented in partnership with: Brian Kennedy Curation, Taste Contemporary Geneva & Ting-Ying Hong Kong, Oliver Sears Gallery Dublin.
BEAU-LAID, presented by Taste Contemporary Geneva, introduces the notion of beauty within work that might, on the surface, be perceived as ugly; PARALLAX, presented by Oliver Sears Gallery, invites us to consider artists’ varying viewpoints; FLORID, presented by Ting Ying Galleries, presents us with old fashioned extravagances within contemporary art while REPEAT, presented by Brian Kennedy, investigates meanings around repetition within abstraction.
Beau-Laid: 30th October – 9th November
Parallax: 13th November - 23rd November
Florid: 27th November – 7th December
Repeat: 11th December – 20th December
PARALLAX : Presented by Oliver Sears Gallery 13th November – 24th November 2019
Exploring the complex relationship between artist and viewer, Parallax invites us to consider differing viewpoints within contemporary art practice; in essence the ambiguity of space that exists when the artist or viewer’s gaze is redefined, perspectives are altered, or the path of the viewer's eye is redirected.
Oliver Sears Gallery in London is supported by Culture Ireland.
